When our society looks at us and says our schools are troubled, what they are really saying is that our society is troubled, and by implication they are saying Help us, dear teachers. You are our hope’.

If you attempt to show someone the error of their ways by comparing them with some one else, you will foster animosity. Show them their faults in comparison with their own strength and you faster a drive for excellence.

Children learn to achieve through encouragement. Some children are more adventurous than other. The formula for success must be learned. The simple act of raising one’s hand to participate is a major achievement for many. When this is encouraged and then met with approval this achievement leads to confidence and ultimately greater achievement.

A student’s success in school starts in the heads and heart of his or her parents and teachers. The way we see them, the way they see themselves, is what they will become.
